Field trip, presentations at the meeting of members of the Békés County Local Branch of MME

Since unanticipated professional tasks clogged the members of Békés County Local Branch visiting the opening conference, we planned to visit them, to demonstrate the project “Cooperation to establish a cross-border bird monitoring network and on-line database”. Their annual meeting in early April was a great opportunity for this.

After listening the summary of the activities of the Local Branch, Károly Nagy presented the project to the present volunteers. We had the opportunity to discuss who and how could join monitoring works implemented in the frame of the project.

Balázs Forgách representing the white stork protection activity of the local branch. They use the already existing on-line database for collecting data and information about the population of white storks from their county.

Károly Nagy representing the project in detail and the achieved result from the past few months.

The presentations took place in a pleasant mood, as the physiognomy of Imre Toth’s shows.

Personal talks between the colleagues of the Monitoring Centre of BirdLife Hungary and the volunteers also took place following the presentations.

And spending hours between the walls of the Bihari Madárvárta it was a great refreshment to take a bird observing tour near the fishponds of Biharugra.

The Bihari mountains showed themselves in the background of the lakes thanks to the clear vernal weather.
